August 24, 1940, a kitchen created for people representing intelligentsia and respected bourgeois circles, impoverished during the war.
The Kitchen for the Intelligentsia was particularly well stocked with food and surpassed other kitchens in this respect, as in addition to hearty, good soups, it also served vegetables and meat for the main course. Registration there was very desirable, but also difficult. In the autumn of 1942, its status was leveled with the other kitchens. It is not without significance that it was led by the Women’s Committee, headed by the sister-in-law of the Chairman, Helena Rumkowska.
