Artist Mojżesz Gurewicz was born in Łódź on 19 April 1907, the son of Abram and Genia. Until 1921, he lived with his parents at 15 Luizy, then at 22 Skwerowa. He was homeschooled, completing the equivalent of primary school and seven years of secondary school, under the supervision of his brother, a secondary-school teacher. Between 1926 and 1929, he was a student at Ryszard Radwański's School of Drawing and Painting at 7 Andrzeja. In 1928, he unsuccessfully applied for a Samuel Hirszenberg scholarship and admission to the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1930, he reapplied and was accepted. He studied in a studio operated by Felicjan Szczęsny Kowarski (1890–1948). He made his debut at an exhibition of the Institute of Art Propaganda in 1932. In the following years, he presented his works at exhibitions of the Union of Polish Visual Artists in Łódź, where he was a member. He created oil paintings and graphics on various subjects. In April 1938, at one of the union’s exhibitions, he presented his stage designs for Gabriela Zapolska's Moralność pani Dulskiej (The Morality of Mrs Dulska) and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Active in the Łódź arts scene, he was influenced by Władysław Strzemiński, Karol Hiller and other avant-garde artists. He journeyed to Krzemieniec and Kazimierz Dolny, in Poland, to do plein-air work, painting outside. In the years 1935, 1936 and 1938, he wrote for  Forma magazine. He was employed by the Ort Association at 21 Wólczańska. Until the start of the Second World War, he lived with his nephew, Rafał Grynbaum, at 22 POW, in Łódź.

In the Łódź Ghetto, they took up residence at 26/8 Siegfriedstrasse. He was employed at the Graphic Office (vide) of the Statistical Department, (vide) where he worked as a lithographer and draughtsman. In June 1943, he created decorations for a shoemakers' revue. In August 1944, he was deported to Auschwitz where he was likely murdered.
