Supporting Doctor (from German). Prewar medical student allowed to practice as a physician in the ghetto (minor procedures, assisting fully qualified doctors, acting as local doctors, etc.). Employed by the Health Department until September 1942. Remuneration in June 1942 – 150 mk, lower than for local doctors, although it included board. Hilfärzte were not entitled to any additional food rations.
In June 1942 – 16 persons (14 men and 2 women, born in the years 1907–1919), five of them served as local doctors.
After September 1942, some of them were directed by labor divisions to sanitary service.
