Vitamin B2 deficiency found in ghetto residents (generally combined with symptoms of general exhaustion), particularly widespread in the summer of 1942, leading to a number of fatalities. According to some doctors practicing in the ghetto, pellagra in the ghetto is not always caused by vitamin B2 deficiency, but quite often by the absence of protein bodies – the absorption of which is mediated by that vitamin – in the diet of the ghetto population.
