Artist Vila (Viola) Günther was born on 11 March 1896, in Prague. She was the daughter of Gustav Schulhoff and Louise, née Wolf, and sister of journalist Jindřich Schulhoff and composer Erwin Schulhoff. Beginning in 1919, she lived with Erwin in Dresden, Germany, at 22 Ostbahnstrasse. She studied at the Dresden Kunstgewerbeschule school and belonged to the Dresden Dada Group arts circle (1919–1922). In 1921, she married painter Kurt Günther and they movedto Bad Reichenall, in Germany. After their divorce in 1926, she returned to what was then Czechoslovakia. As a German citizen, she attempted to leave the country in 1939, but was not successful. At that time, she lived in Prague, at 44 Sudoměřská.
On 16 October 1941, she was deported to the Łódź Ghetto (Transport A) and registered at 5 Kościelny Square. In May 1942, she was deported to Chełmno and murdered.
